Malaga Airport is one of the busiest airports in Spain. The airport is located around five miles from the city of Malaga. Malaga is a popular tourist destination in its own right; many visitors take short city-breaks here. However, Malaga Airport mainly serves the popular beach resorts on the Costa del Sol, such as Torremolinos and Benalmadina.

There are three terminals at Malaga Airport. The newest, Terminal 3, opened in March, 2010. Nowadays, all Malaga Airport flights take off from Terminal 3; it is a modern, state-of-the-art facility. However, the two older terminals are still used for checking in. Terminal 3 has a range of modern facilities, including car hire in Malaga Airport.

A huge number of airlines depart from Malaga Airport, including both scheduled and charter airlines. A significant number of flights are operated by the no-frills airline, Ryanair.  What do I need to do when picking up a car?

To pick up your car, you will need your voucher, passport, driver's license and a credit card. It is very important that your driver's license and credit card are in the same name as the main driver. Keep in mind that the local rental company will reserve a certain amount on your credit card as a deposit. This requires the PIN code for your credit card. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.
